Welcome to TheDailyPoop! We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our daily news briefing app.

2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Username, display name (via Sign in with Apple)
- Profile Information: Profile picture (optional), avatar
- Game Activity: Word Drop scores, Poop or Scoop answers, leaderboard entries
- Social Data: Friend groups, group memberships
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Usage Data: Stories read, games played, streaks, scores
- Device Information: Device token for push notifications (handled by Apple)
- Subscription Status: Whether you have an active PRO subscription
2.3 Third-Party Services
- Apple Sign In: We use Sign in with Apple for authentication. Apple provides a unique user identifier and optionally your name.
- Supabase: Your account and app data is stored securely in our Supabase (PostgreSQL) database.
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat processes subscription status via Apple's StoreKit. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.
- AI Services: News briefings are generated using AI APIs (OpenAI, Google, Perplexity). No personal user data is sent to these services.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Deliver News Briefings: Provide daily news drops with curated stories
- Games: Run Word Drop and Poop or Scoop games, track scores, and maintain leaderboards
- Social Features: Connect you with friends in groups, show group leaderboards
- Push Notifications: Alert you when a new daily drop is ready
- Subscriptions: Manage your PRO subscription status and unlock premium features
- Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns (anonymously) to improve features
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
4.1 What We Share
With Group Members: When you join a group, members can see:
- Your username and profile picture
- Your game scores and leaderboard position
On the Public Leaderboard (PRO only): Your username, score, and word count may appear on the daily leaderboard.
4.2 What We DON'T Share
- Personal Data: We NEVER sell your personal information to third parties.
- Private Data: Your Apple ID, email, or phone number are NEVER shared with other users.
- Reading Habits: We do not share which stories you read with other users or third parties.
5. Data Security
We take security seriously:
- Encrypted Storage: Data is stored in Supabase with encryption at rest
- Secure Authentication: Sign in with Apple provides industry-standard security with JWT token verification
- API Security: All API requests are authenticated and validated server-side
- No Passwords: We don't store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple.
6. Your Privacy Rights
You have the right to:
- Access Your Data: View your profile, scores, and activity in the app
- Delete Your Data: Delete your account and all associated data from Settings. This permanently removes your account, scores, group memberships, and all personal data.
- Manage Notifications: Control push notifications in iOS Settings
- Cancel Subscription: Cancel your PRO subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings
7. Children's Privacy
TheDailyPoop is rated 12+. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use this app.
8. Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account
- Game Scores: Retained as long as your account is active
- News Briefings: Generated daily and retained in our database. Not tied to individual users.
- Deleted Account: All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
9. Subscriptions
TheDailyPoop offers optional PRO subscriptions:
- Subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store
- We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status
- We do not have access to your payment information — Apple handles all billing
- Subscription status (active/expired) is stored in our database to unlock premium features
10. Push Notifications
We send push notifications for:
- New daily news drops
- Group activity and invitations
You can disable push notifications in iOS Settings.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date on this page.
